OSTA-AECO’s Fall General Meeting (FGM) takes place this November 2-5, 2017, at Toronto Mariott City Centre Hotel.
On behalf of the Ontario Student Trustees’ Association (OSTA-AECO), we are very excited to extend an invitation to our first conference of the year, our Fall General Meeting (FGM). The OSTA-AECO FGM will provide student trustees with the basic skills and abilities required to be successful in their role. From seminars on boardroom etiquette to knowledgeable keynote speakers to best practice sharing sessions, this conference is a great way for student trustees to learn more about their position. A large portion of this conference will also be spent on familiarizing student trustees with OSTA-AECO as an organization, as well as the state and structure of Ontario’s education system. Student trustees will additionally have the opportunity to meet with OSTA-AECO’s partners and to connect with student trustee alumni mentors. Last, but certainly not least, the FGM will focus on building partnerships between student trustees across the province to allow for further collaboration and solidarity in promoting student voice. We look forward to seeing you in November!

All conference activities taking place at the Toronto Mariott City Centre Hotel require business attire. Adherence to the dress code shows respect for the responsibilities fulfilled as Student Trustees.
OSTA-AECO is committed to the safety and well being of all members. As a result, all student trustee attendees are required to sign and return a Code of Conduct during registration. Failure to comply to the items listed in the agreement will result in the immediate contact of the student trustee’s Director of Education and parent or guardian.
All of OSTA-AECO’s conferences are supervised by adults from the association’s Board of Directors, who serve in accordance with strict supervision procedures. OSTA-AECO’s Board of Directors is comprised of seven past Student Trustees, appointed by the OSTA-AECO Executive Council on a biennial basis. While they maintain a legal and fiduciary responsibility to the organization, they also serve as supervision during conferences. There will always be a male and a female supervisor on duty, 24 hours a day for the duration of the conference.
These measures ensure that all school boards may send their student trustees to OSTA-AECO’s conferences in confidence, knowing that their safety is of utmost importance.
All questions or concerns about OSTA-AECO’s conferences can be directed to our Professional Development Officer at email@example.com.
