Board Council Cup

It was an ongoing goal of the Public Board Council to win last year's Board Council Cup. The council that has the most school boards pay registration fees to OSTA-AECO is the winner of the Cup. Last year, the PBC came in at a total of 50% of all Public boards registered, winning the Cup.

Student Council Handbook

The Student Council Handbook is a comprehensive guide that contains contributions from a number of student trustees, and through them, a diverse and dynamic group of student councils. The handbook is divided into extensive sections, each detailing common events, situations, and work of student councils. There are tips, tricks, helpful hints, and a number of other useful resources. The goal of the handbook is to record and examine best practices of councils, in the hope of enhancing student leadership efforts across the province. The handbook is currently being reviewed by education stakeholders. After final revisions are made, the handbook will be posted online for student councils to use as a resource.

Student Survey

The Ontario Student Survey is a project in collaboration with Student Vote and Scholarships Canada, and seeks student feedback on important issues. Over 7,100 students and 2,400 parents took the last survey, and the results can be found here.

Future Plans

The Public Board Council has decided to focus on equity and inclusive education for the remainder of their term. Plans include the creation of Gay-Straight Alliance Groups in schools across Ontario, and also releasing reports about what individual school boards are doing with the Ministry of Education's new Equity and Inclusive Education Strategy.
