Haakim Nainar is a first-term student trustee from the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board. He is in the International Baccalaureate Programme at Westdale Secondary School in this board. Haakim is a trivia buff and plays on his school’s provincially performing Reach For the Top Team. In February 2009, he was the Secretary-General of the first ever Hamilton Model United Nations Conference run by high school students for high school students. Since he was a child, he has played soccer in a club and likes playing other sports as well. Some of his favourite subjects at school include mathematics, French, history and science. He channels his passions into tutoring math, which he does on a regular basis for senior level students. In his leisure time, he likes to play Risk, play Frisbee at the park or go biking in the local trails. He is a strong supporter of receiving a broad and useful education, one that can help equip students to be active, thoughtful and contributing citizens in this continuously globalizing and integrating world.
