Briar is currently a grade twelve student at Notre Dame Catholic Secondary School in Burlington. She is the Burlington Student Trustee for the Halton Catholic District School Board. Briar is very excited about the upcoming year as the Director of Professional Development for OSTA-AECO. She is the Head Girl for her school's Prefect program, which is a group of selected grade twelve students that act in a leadership capacity within the school community. Last year she was chosen to represent her school for a board program that strived to make the school community more welcoming. From this program she will be leading a motivated group of students that will focus on bi-monthly goals that combat stereotypes and prejudices. Through exciting and interesting school events, such as “Coffee Houses” they will help students truly learn and appreciate their fellow students. This fall she will be attending the Secondary Schools’ United Nations Symposium 2009. She is also a math tutor at her school.
